The space in the rear portion may seem less particularly if the occupants are very tall. The cargo capacity may seem limited compared to what is expected of a midsized crossover SUV. The car has iDrive control feature that employs a console knob through which navigation, climate function, communication and entertainment can be controlled.

BMW E90 320d

The E90 is the currently available generation, which debuted for the 2006 model year,[citation needed] and is available as the sedan (E90), wagon (E91), coupe (E92), and coupe cabriolet (E93). It is completely re-engineered from the E46, including changes to engines, transmission, the passenger compartment, suspension technology, as well as a host of high-tech features and options. The coupé/cabriolet body is now its own design and no longer derived from the sedan minus two doors unlike its predecessors, being longer and narrower than its E90 counterpart. Major features include Comfort Access, bi-Xenon adaptive headlamps, Active Cruise Control, and Active Steering. The lineup received a mid-generational facelift for the 2009 model year.

Currently, four engine options are offered, two being part of the new ‘N’ series of BMW inline engines featuring a host of new technologies. Technological innovations such as lightweight magnesium/aluminum construction, electric water pump, Valvetronic (steplessly variable valve lift), and Double-VANOS steplessly variable valve timing contribute to produce a lighter and more powerful motor than its predecessor, but yield a 15% increase in fuel economy. The E90 also marks BMW’s return to turbocharging with the introduction of the BMW 335. The N54 engine produces 300 bhp (224 kW; 304 PS) and 300 lb·ft (410 N·m) torque.

The E90 series also marks another first for BMW—a retractable hardtop convertible.

BMW 335i Coupé Australian Launch

BMW Announced that the brand new 325i and the ever more anticipated twin-turbo BMW 335i will arrive in Australian BMW showrooms in October. Not that long now! The new BMW 335i assumes top position in the 3 Series family thanks to its innovative 3.0-litre Twin Turbo petrol engine that delivers a huge 225 kW of power at 5,800 rpm and a massive 400 Nm of torque between 1,300 rpm and 5,000 rpm.

Acceleration to 0-100 km/h for the BMW 335i is 5.5 seconds, almost as fast as the E46 generation BMW M3 Coupé. Using high-precision direct petrol injection, an all aluminium engine and a pair of turbo-chargers, each assigned to force-feed three cylinders, the 335i shows that BMW has a regained faith in turbocharging its 3 series.
BMW uses low inertia turbos which spool up much faster than conventional units. The Twin Turbo engine is 70 kg lighter than a comparably powerful 4.0-litre eight-cylinder engine. The lightweight engine ensures the BMW 3 Series Coupé will retain BMW’s 50/50 weight distribution perfecting the 335i’s handling and balance.
The 335i Coupé will be available in both six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission guise. The most powerful regular production 3 Series ever (not including the specialist M3 models) will be priced from $108,500 as a manual and $111,100 as an automatic.Uniquely available to automatic transmission models of the BMW 335i Coupé is the option for steering wheel mounted shift paddles. These alloy-finished shifters are priced at $200.
The 335i Coupé standard specification includes :

This year BMW has sold more than 250,000 3 Series Sedans underlining its success as the world’s best compact sports luxury sedan.BMW expects the new 3 Series Coupé will follow in the wheel tracks of its exceptionally successful E46 model, which sold more than 460,000 examples over its seven-year model life.
